Following direct recommendations from His Holiness the Sixteenth Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, the Caracas Karma Thegsum Choling opened its doors as an informal space for meditation in the late 1970s. Formally founded by Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche in 1981, we had the privilege of several of his visits until 1988.

The KTC offers a precious opportunity to get in contact with genuine Buddhist teachings and meditation practices. These valuable psychological and emotional tools help us deal in a more appropriate way with everyday life situations, make possible the development of love and compassion, and produce physical and mental benefits for ourselves as well as others.

In the weekly sessions, the practitioners receive meditations instructions and have the possibility to engage in group practice, listen and discuss teachings about Buddhist psychology and philosophy. While learning to pacify and clarify their minds, the practitioners develop the highest human qualities for the benefit of all. The Caracas KTC hosts yearly visits of the Tibetan master Lama Karma Drodhul and the American nun Lhundup Damcho, as well as occasional ones from other dharma teachers. Weekly practices: Shamata, Chenrezig and Green Tara practices
