The monsoon retreat has started July 26, and will continue until September 9. It is being lead by Khenpo Kelsang Nyima and Vajra Master Lama Gyaltsen Namgyal.

Rumtek Monastery has been performing Chod-tsok or cutting off Ritual
puja for 5 days and today is very auspicious occasion called ChoKhor
Duchen or Dharmachakra day for the commemoration of Lord Buddha.

This is to giving you a glimpse of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang
Karmapa, Ugyen Trinley Dorje’s Birthday. The great occasion started
by offering Sang at 6 AM and also one thousand butter lamp offeringa
and hosting of prayer flags. It was followed by gathering of the monks of
Damang, Sherda & lay people and offering of mandala and scarves for His
Holiness at his throne. This was done for the Long life of H.H. and success for his Dharma
activities. Afterwards, the saffron rice & tea was offered to all who gathered.
On this special day, the Environment Committee of Rumtek planted 300
trees to help protect our environment and the whole world. After lunch, the Abbot
gave a speech on the occasion of His Holiness Birthday. Rumtek
Dahrma Chakra School performed songs for the occasion.
This is to bring kind information that Sangha Dhuche of Rumtek Monastery had performed longevity puja for the long life of H.H. the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa before his birthday. Today is the last day of this puja and immerse the image of H.H. (Kulud) for the removal of all the obstacles for him and for his success in spreading the Dharma activities.
25th June, Earth Day Plantation at Rumtek Monasterty by D.C.C Environment Conservation Committee. Group of monks from Dharma Chakra Centre were on Plantation Project at 9.15 am at Rumtek, Monastery.
The Tse dup Puja (Amitaayu Duppa) has been completed at Rumtek, this puja went from June 18 through to 20. Now the annual one week CHAKRASAMVARA puja is being performed.
The Great Vajrakilaya Puja known as Phur Pa'i Sgrub Chen in Tibetan will be commencing on the 14th of May 2010 It will continue for 11 days. This grand Puja or ceremony is very special and is performed only once in every two years. There will be ritual Lama Dance or Cham in Tibetan without costumes and masks on 22nd and with costumes and masks on 23rd. The second day ritual lama dance will be preceded by the Initiation of Dngos Grub Len Chog or Receiving Siddhis at 3 early in the morning. On the 24th, the last day of the Puja, the sand mandala created for the Puja will be immersed in the nearby river. Butterlamps will be lit and prayers will be said for the flourishing and everlasting of the Dharma, the Teachings of the Buddha, the long life of all our root masters and for a world free from epidemical diseases, famine, drought and war. The ceremony will be concluded with prayers for peace and tranquility in the whole world.
This is to bring to your kind information that Pal Karmae Sangha Dhuche, Rumtek Monestery had performed Vajra Yogini puja (Phagmo) for 5 days from 11th April to 15th April, 2010 and Vajra Yogini Fire puja has been performed on the last day this puja.
16th April,2010 This afternoon the Sangha members of Dharma Chakra Centre, Karma Sri Nalanda Institute and the lay community of Rumtek Monastery paid their condolences to the victims and survivors of the catastrophic earthquake that struck parts of Kham province in Tibet on the morning of 14th April 2010. As directed by His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorjee, Sangha members and the lay community recited Zangchod Monlam (Aspirational Prayer of Arya Bhadracharya), and the sangha members performed Khorwa Dongdrug (Overturning of Samsara’s Depth) and Changchog (Inscription-Ritual for the Deceased) for those hundreds of our fellow brothers and sisters who lost their lives. Prayers were also said for the speedy recovery of those injured and a world free of natural disasters.
Natural disasters such as an earthquake is the outcome of the imbalance of natural elements, hence, we, under the directions of our root guru His Holiness the Karmapa, at Khoryug, as a network of Buddhist monasteries and centers in the Himalayas working together on environmental protection of the Himalayan region, has been once again reminded of our commitment towards our work of environmental protection.

The Auspicious occasion (Tibetan Losar) was initiated by a gathering of Sanghas, Uchos, staffs and lay people of Tsurphu Labrang in the main Rumtek Monastery Shrine hall. At 6 am the day started with a mandala offering to His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa to pray him for the eternal existence. Scarves were offered to the throne of His Holiness & regents. After this program, tea was served to the Sangha and lay people and the Losar ceremonies completed enjoyably.
On the 8th day of Tibetan Losar, we celebrated The Shibdak Losar (this is the local Deities New Year). This started by performing the Garsang Puja or Sang puja by the Sangha in the main hall and with lay people offering sang to Deities. After that, there was a picnic and the Sangha and lay people gather at a pasture near the Monastery (Simshak Pang) and enjoyed the picnic as well as games.

The Celebration of Tibetan New Year (Losar) is on 14th February, 2010 and that time, all the Sanghas and the lay people will offer scarves on H.H. the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa's throne and the high lamas.
